Why Does our Church Need a Foundation?
The Granite Springs Legacy Foundation provides a way for us to receive and hold gifts for specific purposes. It helps us secure funding for the future. It provides a structure for us to receive and administer estate gifts of cash and property. It expands our ministry opportunities by providing a systematic way to acquire funds for programs that may not fit into an annual church budget but, if implemented, could make a significant impact in and for our community.
How will our Foundation grow?
Our Legacy Foundation is designed to receive gifts that will be needed in future years or gifts that will be invested. The income will be distributed to our church to support various ministries.
Many gifts to the Granite Springs Legacy Foundation will be what we refer to as “planned gifts.” They will come from:
- Bequests
- Charitable Gift Annuities
- Charitable Trusts
- Retirement Assets
- Life Insurance
How is our Foundation structured?
The Granite Springs Legacy Foundation is administered through the Barnabas Foundation, a non-profit organization which helps churches and individuals work together in transferring gifts of cash and property. By working with Barnabas, Granite Springs benefits from all the advantages of a foundation without the legal cost and administrative work of setting up and maintaining its own. The Granite Springs Legacy Foundation includes five funds:
- Missions and Church Planting: supports the development of new church plants in the Sacramento region as well as short and long term missions activities sponsored by our church.
- Benevolence: provides support for local and national disaster relief or other crisis needs approved by the church.
- Building: used for capital building projects and unusual maintenance or repairs.
- Ministries: supports special ministry projects that increase the community impact of our church (such as services to the homeless, small groups, men’s or women’s ministry, music ministry, etc.)
- Leadership and Spiritual Formation: supplements the church’s support of ministry interns, leadership development programs, children’s, youth, or adult education.
How can I Give to the Granite Springs Legacy Foundation?
Your gift to our foundation will create a lasting legacy. It ensures that gifts to the church will be used to expand ministry nd make an eternal impact.
- You can include the foundation as a bequest in your will or trust, as a recipient of an IRA, or as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
- You can make a gift of cash, real estate, or stock now and receive an income for life.
