On Sunday January 27, 2013 Rev. Brad Swope from Horizon Church of Roseville joined us for lunch. Brad is a pastor/church planter who began Horizon in 1998. He is also an adjunct professor at William Jessup University and a long-time friend of Granite Springs Church. He was the second of a set of speakers we’ve hosted who are helping us understand baptism from different perspectives. Brad talked specifically about “Believer Baptism.” It was fascinating to hear his insights and to come to a deeper understanding of the ways in which we are united through baptism. While baptism is something that is practiced differently in different denominations, it is ultimately something that unites us.
This luncheon was held as part of the worship renewal grant we have to explore Psalm-based Baptismal Identity. As part of this grant we have a number of other events coming up. On March 2, 2013 we will host Rev. John Van Sloten for a day of exploring the connections between Baptism and Work. Then on April 20, 2013 we will be hosting a seminar called Iconic Life: Baptism and Music. Registration is open for both events if you are interested in signing up. Click here for more information.
