Working Under Water – Living Baptism in the Workplace [An Exploration of Faith &  Work] –  by John Van Sloten.

 (John Van Sloten is Pastor of New Hope Church in Calgary Alberta. He is also author of the book “The Day Metallica Came to Church”. This seminar is sponsored in part by a worship renewal grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship.)

Session 1 – Vocation as Text; Seeing Work as a Living Parable

This session lays down some foundational theology for the idea of God revealing himself through our jobs by connecting to vintage Christian ideas like providence, imago dei, and sensus divinitais.

Session 2 – Vocation as Icon; Going to School on Rublev’s Holy Trinity

This session explores how an icon works and apply iconic truth to the project of reading one’s job.

Session 3 – Lectio Vocatio; Tools for Discerning God’s Word through Work

This session includes 6 – 8 other ways of reading your job.
