This year at Ensenada’s Youth Unlimited Gospel Outreach (YUGO) Ministries, the theme of our daily and evening chapel services centered on the theme of being “Called.” Throughout our mission experience we learned how “We are Called” to the work of Jesus Christ. Henry Blackaby clearly conveys, “God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.” In our travel to and from Ensenada, and in our work at the construction site and other ministry locations, I believe that God worked to better qualify the call for myself and each member of our team.
In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul teaches how “God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable” (11:29), and that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (8:28). As our team remained connected to our missionary purpose, it was a great joy to see the miraculous ways in which God worked for the good (see blog posts from the others for a few examples). Oswald Chambers said, “The call of God is not for a select few, but for everyone. If I hear the call depends on the condition of my ears, and exactly what I hear depends on the condition of my heart.” In this missionary journey to Ensenada, God opened wider my ears, eyes, mind, and heart for our Mexican neighbors. Billy Graham boldly declared, “The measure of success in God’s eyes is faithfulness to his calling.” I am grateful to have journeyed and served in this labor of love with our mission team, as each person was so faithful and committed to God’s calling. Thank you Granite Springs Church for making this experience possible!
